Quick response (QR) codes have been touted as the marketing vehicle of the future, but audience buy-in is still pretty low, at least for product advertisements, according to some reports. Up-to-date and exact statistics are hard to pin down: Comscore reports 14 million people, or 6.2 percent of the total mobile audience in the U.S., scanned a code in June 2011, while Forrester Research shows 5 percent scanned a code between May and July 2011.
